Advice for Beginners
One of the most difficult things about Aikido is attending your first class.
If you have no previous martial arts experience don’t worry! You’re welcome with us and we can help you get going. We advise that you wear loose fitting clothing (e.g. tracksuit bottoms and a t-shirt), bring yourself and a smile. If you have any injuries or concerns please make the instructor that class aware of them, and if necessary your training partners throughout the session.
Membership and Insurance
All classes are taken by instructors who are qualified and insured through our affiliation to White Rose Aikikai and the British Aikido Board. they are trained in first aid too. We maintain basic insurance cover for all members through the same affiliations. All NEW MEMBERS are REQUIRED to fill out an application form, we require two passport style photos with this also.
Safety on the Mat
All members are reminded that safety whilst training is the responsibility of everyone on the mat and care must be taken at all times to avoid injury to yourself and others, especially when practicing with weapons. However, students must accept that due to the contact nature of Aikido, injuries may sometimes occur. All jewellery must be removed and well trimmed nails will help to avoid accidents.
