Durham University

Prince Bishops Aikido’s association with Durham University began in the late 1990s when a group of students approached Heseltine Sensei and asked him to teach the University Club they were looking to establish. This association has continued to the present day, in the same dojo even!

Throughout this time students have enjoyed years of training on the mat and fun times and memorable times off it too.  They have become significantly involved in Prince Bishops Aikido and our parent association – White Rose Aikikai – and between the two have travelled both nationally and internationally to progress their training and having fun along the way.

One of the early students, and first to reach shodan (1st Dan), currently holds the rank of  godan (5th Dan) and runs his own dojo in Kyoto, Japan!
